Have you ever asked yourself "who am I?". Do you wonder why you're here? Do you feel like there must be more to life than this?
These are the questions that used to wake me at 3am. The gnawing feeling in my stomach told me there must be answers to my questions "out there somewhere" and I was determined to find them. What I was yet to realise was that the answers weren't "out there somewhere", but were actually "inside me" all along.
If you're asking these big life questions too, I've got great news for you... you also have the answers inside you! They may be buried and hard to find right now, but you can uncover them with a bit of effort. Luckily, the deep yearning that these questions evoke is an excellent motivator.
Do You Want Answers?
Then Reiki, Meditation and Creativity are your friends. Many people are unaware that Reiki is much more than a method of energy healing, it is actually a spiritual path to enlightenment that combines healing with meditative practices!
While it is mainly known as a natural hands-on-healing method, this is just one element of a complete system created by Reiki founder Mikao Usui in 1920's Japan. All elements of the Reiki system guide us towards true healing: enlightenment and the connection to our true self.
Through Reiki practices you will uncover who you really are, and why you're here!
The Path to Enlightenment
Mikao Usui was a spiritual seeker who likely asked himself the very same questions that used to bother me at 3am!
His burning desire for answers was motivation enough for him to embark on a dangerous spiritual quest upon the sacred Mount Kurama. This was a perilous quest and the decision to go would not have been made lightly. It required intense spiritual practices such as fasting and prolonged meditation, sometimes beneath pounding and icy cold waterfalls. He wanted to reach enlightenment or die trying!
After 21 days of fasting and meditating, probably very close to death, he experienced a great light above him that struck him in the forehead like a lightening bolt and caused him to fall unconscious. When he awoke he discovered the flash of illumination had caused him to feel complete peace and rejuvenation. With the wisdom of enlightenment Mikao Usui declared...
"I am in the universe; the universe is in me".
He experienced satori (enlightenment) and in the process his innate ability to heal himself and others was awakened.
Mikao Usui wanted to provide other people the opportunity to attain inner peace, enlightenment and the ability to heal ourselves and others, without the need to undertake life-threatening practices. So he consolidated his spiritual knowledge and experience into a unified Reiki system that he taught to others, and with gratitude I am able to share his wisdom with you.
The Reiki System
There are a number of elements that Mikao Usui included in his system of Reiki. All are designed to help us know ourselves at the deepest level, and they all approach this goal from a different angle.
The elements that make up Usui's system of Reiki are:
The 5 Reiki Precepts
Healing (for ourselves and others, hands-on and distance)
When we become students of the system of Reiki, we learn tools that nourish our own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. We deepen our connection to our true selves bringing profound healing to our lives, and a natural sense of compassion arises with the desire to ease the suffering of others.
Through our daily, personal practice of Reiki Healing and Reiki Meditations, we begin to uncover the answers to our sacred questions.
We gain direct experience of who we really are.
Our reason for being becomes clearer and stronger.
Our innate gifts become more apparent to us.
Our life purpose drives our decisions with a powerful force.
Our life becomes more meaningful and joyful.
We create a solid foundation that supports our ability to extend healing to others.
The system of Reiki does not have a standardised curriculum so you will notice variations in content and focus between different Reiki Teachers. The Reiki Teacher's own unique skills and talents will also influence their teaching style and what they share with their students, so find a teacher that really resonates with you.
My ikigai (life purpose) is to help you experience who you really are, and discover your own life purpose so that you can live a life you love - filled with happiness and fulfilment. Therefore, just like Reiki founder Mikao Usui, my Reiki classes focus on personal and spiritual development, with the ability to heal others as a beautiful outcome of your dedicated practice.
If you'd like to discover the answers to all of your sacred questions, and learn how to heal yourself and others, then join us in a Reiki class. You can see all my Reiki Classes here.
